CENTRAL ASIAN

URBAN FORUM

The Central Asian Urban Forum is a platform for discussing current issues in urban development and urban studies with the participation of representatives from the architectural community and the construction business in Central Asia and around the world. The goal is to develop recommendations for addressing urban development challenges, such as transportation infrastructure, environmental issues, housing problems, economic development, and shaping the future of cities. The forum provides a space for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration to improve the quality of life in urban environments.

RELEVANCE

The modernization and construction of urban infrastructure in Central Asia is a systemic problem. Experts believe that the region's urbanization processes are not accompanied by sustainable urban development. Large cities in Central Asia often experience unregulated urbanization. The consequences of this urbanization include increasing pressure on urban labor markets, degradation of engineering infrastructure, and high vulnerability to climate change, natural disasters, and environmental threats. For example, Astana, Almaty, Bishkek, Dushanbe, and Tashkent regularly rank among the world's cities with the worst air quality during the winter months. Given the similarity of the socioeconomic situation, natural and climatic conditions, and cultural and mental characteristics, the countries of the region can join forces in developing common approaches to sustainable urban development and urbanization.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT

  • Consolidation of the leading CA specialists in urban planning and exchange of experience;
  • Present architecture as capital. Tell that quality architecture is a long-term asset increasing the value of real estate, investment attractiveness and competitiveness of cities;
  • Attract investments. Present successful practices and models of financing projects in architecture and urban development, stimulating the inflow of capital to the region;
